NERP is a living, breathing UK city. Every system involves at least two sides — the person needing a service and the person providing it. This guide covers everything from the moment you first spawn, all the way through every job, every system, and every command you'll ever need. Read it once and you'll be ahead of 90% of new players.
🆕 Complete Beginner Guide — From Spawn to First Paycheque
Never played FiveM RP before? Don't panic. This section explains literally everything step by step — what to expect when you first join, what every screen means, and exactly what to do to get started earning money and roleplaying properly.
Join our Discord first: discord.gg/V64YJUn3Y7 — it's where all community chat, staff, applications and updates live. Get in there before you even connect to the server.
Step 1 — What Happens When You First Connect
When you first join NERP, you'll be presented with the character creation screen. Fill in your character's full name (first and last), date of birth, and gender. Pick your starting outfit — this is just your initial look, you can customise it later.
Once created, the server spawns you in at a designated new player start location. A welcome message and on-screen tips will guide you through the basics. Read them — they tell you where the DVLA and Job Centre are.
What you start with: £2,000 in your bank account. No car. No job. No licence. That £2,000 is your starting budget — spend it wisely. The DVLA licence costs £500, leaving you £1,500 to work with until your first paycheque.
Step 2 — Get Your Driving Licence (DVLA)
Open your map (press ESC → Map or use the minimap). Look for the blue DVLA blip. Walk or run there — you'll have to go on foot or catch a taxi since you have no car yet.
When you arrive at the DVLA building, approach the NPC (yellow marker on the floor). Press E to interact. A menu opens — select "Purchase Driving Licence — £500". Confirm it. The £500 is deducted from your bank and your licence is issued immediately.
Why this matters: Without a driving licence, if you get in a car and police run your plate, they'll see NO LICENCE — you'll get an automatic £200 fine logged permanently to your criminal record. Police can also arrest you on the spot. Always get your licence first.
Step 3 — Get a Job (Job Centre)
Find the green Job Centre blip on your map. Walk in and press E on the NPC. A menu lists all currently available jobs with their requirements and pay rates.
Jobs requiring no driving licence: Garbage Collector, Bus Driver
Jobs requiring a driving licence: Taxi Driver, Tow Driver, Trucker / HGV
Requires £500 registration fee: Mechanic (Kwik Fit) — best long-term earning due to MOT fees + repairs + releases
Whitelist jobs (apply on this website): Police Officer, NHS Paramedic
Court / Media jobs (assigned by admin): Lawyer, Judge, Reporter
Once you select a job it is set immediately. A waypoint appears on your map pointing to your depot or station. Head there now to start earning.
Step 4 — Go On Duty (Lockers & /duty)
Go to your depot or station. Look for a job locker (press E on it) or type /duty.
Going on duty automatically: applies your job uniform for your current grade, flags you as available to the job dispatch system, starts your 30-minute paycheque timer, and makes you visible to customers.
Promotions: You start at Grade 0. Type /promote to submit a promotion request — management reviews it and upgrades your grade, increasing your pay per cheque significantly. Active players who RP well get promoted faster.
Going off duty: Type /duty again to clock out. Pay stops but your uniform stays until you change.
Step 5 — Buy a Vehicle & Get It MOT'd
Find the vehicle dealership blip (PDM) on the map. Browse vehicles in the zone trigger, buy one (requires driving licence). Every vehicle gets a real UK format plate automatically (AB12 CDE). Customise it with /plate.
Immediately after buying — get your MOT: Type /mechanic, select "MOT needed," and wait for a mechanic to respond. They'll come to you or ask you to their garage, get in your vehicle, and issue the certificate. Valid for 12 real days. Police see MOT status on every plate check — no MOT = seizure.
Get insurance too: Visit the insurance office at the mechanic shop and buy a 30-day policy. ANPR gates will instantly flag uninsured vehicles. Uninsured = seized.
Step 6 — Basic RP Commands Every Player Must Know
/me [action] — What your character physically does. Visible to everyone nearby. Example: /me reaches into his jacket and pulls out a driving licence
/do [description] — Describes the environment or a fact. Example: /do The boot appears to be locked from the inside
/ooc [message] — Out of character. Use sparingly — only for genuine game issues. Never argue rules in OOC during RP.
/report [message] — Private report to online admins. Use for rule breakers.
/999 police [message] or /999 medic [message] — Call emergency services. Always include a location.
CAPS LOCK — Cycles voice range: Whisper → Normal → Shout.
Z — Radial context menu. | F1 — Phone. | F2 — Inventory.
Step 7 — Managing Your Money & Survival
You have two balances: bank (main money) and cash (physical money on your person, lost if you die in some circumstances).
Automatic deductions: Road tax (~£150/week per vehicle), phone bill (~£50/week), house rent (if owned) — come out whether you're online or not.
Auto-fines: Speed cameras, driving without licence — instant bank deductions. No bank funds? Comes from cash. No cash? Debt logged and enforceable by police.
No job yet? Head to the Benefits Office near City Hall. Press E to claim £200 Universal Credit — up to 3 times per day with a 1-hour cooldown. Use it as a bridge, not a career.
Eating & drinking: Your character needs food and water — buy from shops on the map. Neglect them and your character's stats degrade.
Golden rules for new players: Stay in character at all times. Value your life — don't throw yourself into danger carelessly. Use /me and /do constantly. Call 999 for emergencies — don't die in silence. The better your RP, the better everyone's experience.

When downed:
If your health reaches zero you go down. EMS are automatically dispatched to your location. Stay down and wait — do not respawn if EMS are on their way. Roleplay the situation.

🔧 Mechanic — Both Sides
👤
As a Civilian — Needing a Mechanic

Breaking down:
Type /mechanic → pick your issue (breakdown, accident, tyre, engine fault, recovery). Your callout goes to all on-duty mechanics with your location. One accepts and comes to you. They'll send a quote — accept or decline. Payment auto-taken from bank when job is marked complete.

🏗️ Tow Driver — Both Sides
👤
As a Civilian — Vehicle Impounded
Vehicle seized by police:
If police seize your vehicle (no MOT, no tax, criminal use) it goes to the impound lot. You'll need to pay the impound fee to recover it — and sort your MOT/tax before driving it again or it'll be seized again immediately.
Abandoned vehicles:
Leaving vehicles in the middle of the road will eventually result in tow trucks removing them. Park sensibly.
🏗️
As a Tow Driver

Tow jobs:
Type /towjob to see available jobs — abandoned vehicles, police requests, breakdowns. Accept a job → waypoint sets. Drive to the vehicle, position your truck, type /tow to attach it.

When to use a taxi:
No driving licence yet, car impounded, don't want to risk driving after a fine, or just for the roleplay. Taxis are a legitimate RP service.

👤
As a Civilian — Using the Bus
How to use the bus:

Why take the bus:
No licence yet, saving money on fuel, or just want to enjoy the city. It's a legitimate and cheap way to get around.
🚌
As a Bus Driver
Getting on duty:

🚛 Trucker / HGV — Both Sides
👤
As a Business / Civilian

🗑️ Garbage Collector — Both Sides
👤
As a Civilian
Your bins:
Bin collections happen across the city on routes. Leave space for the lorry. If a garbage truck is doing its round, don't block it — move your car. Roleplay acknowledging the workers.
Why it matters:
Garbage collectors keep the economy ticking — steady earners who support the server population. Treat them with the same respect as any other job.
🗑️
As a Garbage Collector

Press E on the council depot locker or type /duty. Hi-vis uniform applies. Collect your garbage truck from the depot.
Running collections:
Type /garbagejob to start a route. Waypoints appear at collection points across the city. Drive to each point, press E to collect, continue the route.
Pay:
Paid per completed collection point and on route completion. Steady and reliable — good starter job while you build up savings for a house or car.
💊 Drug System — Criminal & Police
💊
As a Criminal
Supply chain:
Find harvest points → collect raw ingredients → craft at a lab or pocket craft → sell to dealers or contacts. Each step adds value but also adds risk.
Drug types:
Cannabis (street level, easy to move), Cocaine (high value, lab required), Meth (highest risk/reward, lab only), Lean (easy pocket craft), Ecstasy (pills, lab only).
Staying clean:
Don't fire weapons near police — GSR tests positive for 10 minutes. Don't get searched — /search finds everything. Bullet casings drop when you fire and police can collect them. Evidence is permanent in our database.
Selling:
Street dealers are always open. Gang contacts pay more but carry higher risk. Boat pickup pays the most but needs 2+ police online. All sales have a random chance of triggering a police dispatch.
🔍
As a Police Officer
Detecting drug activity:
Drug sales trigger random dispatch alerts with location. Lab activity triggers alerts with chance based on how busy the lab is. Use /searchevidence to find bullet casings at crime scenes.
Searching suspects:
/search on a nearby player checks their full inventory for all drug types. If drugs are found — possession charge is automatically added to their criminal record and a dispatch alert fires to all on-duty officers.
Evidence chain:
/fingerprint → /dna → /gsr (positive for 10 mins after firing) → /searchevidence for casings. All logged to the evidence database permanently. Use it to build cases before charging.
Charging:
/charges [id] → select Possession or Supply depending on quantity → /sentence to process. Fines deducted from bank, jail time served automatically.
⚖️ Justice System — Criminal & Police
😰
As a Criminal / Suspect
Being charged:
Police add charges against you using the charge menu. You receive a notification for each charge. You can view your own pending charges.
Being sentenced:
When sentenced, fines are deducted from your bank immediately (then cash if insufficient). Jail time starts automatically. Serve your time — no skipping.
Bail:
Police can set a bail amount. If bail is set, type /paybail — amount taken from your bank, you're released. If you can't afford bail you serve the full sentence.
Criminal record:
Every charge, fine and conviction is stored permanently on your character. Police see the full count on every plate check. Build a long record and every stop becomes an arrest situation.
⚖️
As a Police Officer
Adding charges:
/charges [player id] → opens full charge menu with all UK offences, fines and jail times pre-set. Add as many charges as the situation warrants. Player is notified of each one.
Viewing charges:
/viewcharges [id] to see all pending charges before sentencing. Make sure you have the right charges before processing.
Sentencing:
/sentence [id] processes all pending charges at once — total fine deducted from their bank, total jail time served. Use /bail [id] [amount] if you want to offer bail instead of immediate jail.
Record checks:
/checkplate shows criminal record count and outstanding warrant count for any vehicle owner. Warranted players show as WANTED — detain on sight.
🔫 Gangs & Turf — Criminal
🔫
As a Gang Member
Getting in a gang:
Gang membership is assigned by admins — /setgang [citizenid] [gang] [rank]. Four gangs on NERP: Grove Street, Ballas, Vagos and Families. Check your status with /ganginfo.
Turf war:
8 turf zones across the map shown as coloured radius zones. Stand in enemy turf for 5 minutes to begin capturing it — you need at least 2 gang members present. Capture it and it becomes yours, earning your gang passive income.
Gang stash:
Each gang has a stash location — press E to open it. Store weapons, drugs and valuables. Only your gang members can access it. Guard it well.
🚓
As a Police Officer
Gang activity:
Turf captures trigger dispatch alerts when active. Multiple gang members in one area is a red flag — treat it as a potential turf conflict. Respond with appropriate numbers.
Intelligence:
Use /checkplate and /search to identify known gang members. Gang affiliation shows on MDT records. Build intelligence files through arrests and evidence collection.
Stash raids:
Coordinate with senior officers before raiding known gang stash locations. Proper RP warrants required — work through the MDT.
🚗 County Lines — Criminal & Police
📦
As a Criminal — Running Lines
How it works:
Walk up to a pickup zone (3 locations across South LS), choose your drug type and quantity. You're assigned a random rural drop zone — Paleto Bay, Sandy Shores, Grapeseed or Alamo Sea. Drive it up and press E at the drop to complete.
Pay:
Payout scales by distance and drug type. Longer rural drops pay significantly more than short ones. High-value drugs pay the most but carry the highest risk.
Risk:
Die and you lose the package — it's gone. Each drop zone has a random chance of triggering a police alert on completion. The further out the drop, the higher the alert chance. Don't speed — cameras will flag you.
🚔
As a Police Officer
Intercepts:
County lines drops trigger random police dispatch alerts on completion. Alert includes the drop zone area — get there fast and search the area for suspects.
ANPR monitoring:
Deploy ANPR gates on routes between the city and rural areas to catch vehicles making county lines runs. Southbound vehicles leaving LS late at night are worth flagging.
Arrests:
If you catch someone mid-run they'll be carrying a package. /search will find it — charge with Supply not just Possession given the quantity and context.
📡 ANPR Gates — Police
🚗
As a Driver — Passing an ANPR Gate
What it checks:
ANPR gates automatically scan every vehicle passing within 12 metres. Your insurance, MOT, wanted status and driving licence are all checked instantly. If anything flags, the officer sees it immediately on their screen.
Stay legal:
Keep your MOT valid (12 days), keep insurance active (30 days), keep your licence. Driving through an ANPR gate with any of these lapsed will flag you instantly — police will pursue.
📡
As a Police Officer — Using ANPR
Deploying a gate:
/anpr deploy [id] at a preset location, or /anpr deploy at your current position to drop one anywhere. /anpr list shows all preset locations. /anpr remove [id] to pull it down.
Reading hits:
Every vehicle passing within 12m is auto-scanned. Flags appear on your screen instantly — NO INSURANCE, NO MOT, WANTED, NO LICENCE. Act on each flag as appropriate.
Best locations:
Motorway on-ramps, city exit roads, known drug run routes. Coordinate with your team — one officer on the gate, one ready to pursue.
🛡️ Vehicle Insurance — Both Sides
🚗
As a Vehicle Owner
Buying insurance:
Walk into the insurance office at the mechanic shop and press E. Buy a 30-day policy — price varies by vehicle class (sports cars cost more than vans). Insurance is valid for 30 real days.
Why you need it:
Police and ANPR check insurance on every plate run and gate scan. Uninsured vehicle = immediate seizure. You'll be notified on login when your insurance is about to expire.
Releasing a seized vehicle:
If your vehicle is impounded, pay the £500 release fee at the mechanic. Fee goes directly to the mechanic handling your release. Sort your insurance before driving it away or it'll be seized again immediately.
🔧
As Police / Mechanic
Impounding vehicles:
Police use /impoundvehicle [plate] [reason] to officially seize a vehicle — no insurance, expired MOT, seized in criminal activity. Logged to the system.
Releasing vehicles (Mechanic):
When an owner comes to claim their vehicle, mechanics handle the release. The £500 release fee is paid directly to the mechanic's cash — good extra income on top of regular repairs and MOTs.
ANPR checks:
ANPR gates show NO INSURANCE flag instantly for any uninsured vehicle passing. No need to run a manual plate check — the gate does it automatically.
🏢 Social Services — Unemployed Players
💷
As an Unemployed Civilian
Universal Credit:
Head to the Benefits Office near City Hall. Press E to claim your Universal Credit — £200 per claim, up to 3 times per day, with a 1 hour cooldown between claims. It's not much but it keeps you going while you find work.
Getting a job:
The Job Centre is nearby the Benefits Office. Browse available jobs, check requirements (some need a driving licence, Kwik Fit has a £500 registration fee), and apply on the spot. Your job is set immediately in the system — go on duty straight away.
RP it properly:
Being on benefits is a legitimate character arc. Roleplay the struggle, interact with social services staff if there are any on duty, work your way up. Don't just spam benefits — use it as a stepping stone.
📋
Jobs Available at Job Centre
No requirements:
Garbage Collector (£80/cheque), Bus Driver (£95/cheque), Trucker (£130/cheque — needs licence)
Requires driving licence:
Taxi Driver (£90/cheque), Tow Driver (£100/cheque), Trucker (£130/cheque)
Requires application:
Police Officer — apply on this website. NHS Paramedic — apply on this website.
Requires reg fee:
Kwik Fit Mechanic — £500 registration fee at the Job Centre. Worth it — mechanics earn extra through MOTs, repairs and vehicle releases on top of their base pay.
🎵 Nightclub & Bar — Both Sides
🎵
As a Customer
Two venues:
Prism nightclub and Tequi-La-La bar. When open, pay £10 entry to the doorman. Head inside, find the bar, and order drinks from the barman — drinks go into your inventory and reduce stress when consumed.
Is it open?
Venues are player-run — they open when the owner decides to. No owner online = no venue open. It pays to know the venue owners and when they operate.
RP the experience:
Nightclubs are social RP hubs — meet people, do business, make contacts. Some of the best RP on the server happens in venues. Treat the staff with respect or get removed by the doorman.
🏢
As Owner / Doorman / Barman
Venue owner:
Assigned by admin via /setvenueowner. Open/close your venue with G near the building. You receive 30% of all entry fees and drink sales passively while open. Hire doormen and barmen from your staff.
Doorman job:
Stand at the entrance, collect £10 entry from each customer. You keep 70%, 30% goes to the owner. Control who gets in — you have the right to refuse entry. Keep troublemakers out.
Barman job:
Open the bar UI, select a nearby customer, sell them a drink. You keep 60%, 30% to the owner, 10% to the system. Roleplay the service — suggest drinks, cut off rowdy customers, keep the bar running smoothly.
Getting the jobs:
Doorman and Barman are assignable jobs — /setjob [id] doorman 0 or barman 0. Venue owners assign these to their staff.
⚖️ Court System & Legal Professionals
The Court System: NERP has a full working justice system. Police charge players, lawyers can represent defendants, and judges hand down sentences. Every conviction is permanent on your criminal record. Understanding the legal system is crucial whether you're a civilian, criminal, cop or lawyer.
😰
As a Defendant (Anyone Charged)
When charges are added:
When police use /charges against you, you receive a notification listing each offence, the associated fine and any jail time. You can view your full pending charge sheet at any time with /mycharges.
Your rights:
You can request a lawyer before sentencing is processed. Say in-game "I'd like to speak to a solicitor" — police must pause the process. Contact a lawyer on your phone. If none are available, the standard process continues.
Sentencing:
When /sentence is processed, all fines are deducted from your bank (then cash) simultaneously. Jail time starts immediately and must be served — there is no way to skip it. Bail can be offered by the arresting officer using /bail — pay it with /paybail to skip jail.
Your criminal record:
Every charge, fine and conviction is permanently stored on your character. It never resets. Police see the total on every plate check — the more you build up, the more suspicious every encounter becomes. Keep it clean if you want an easy life.
👔
As a Lawyer (Solicitor / Barrister)
The job:
Lawyers are assigned the legal job by admins after being vetted. There are two grades — Solicitor (Grade 0, £220/cheque) and Barrister (Grade 1, £350/cheque). You clock in at the Crown Court building.
Representing clients:
When a player is arrested and wants representation, they contact you via phone or in-person RP. Go to the station — police must allow legal access. Review the charges with your client, establish facts, gather any evidence.
Negotiating charges:
Lawyers can speak directly to the arresting officer and negotiate — request charge reductions, request bail be set rather than custody, argue mitigating circumstances. All through RP dialogue, not commands. Your RP skill is your only tool.
Court sessions:
For serious charges (firearms, supply, GBH), a full court session can be requested through the MDT. Judge presides, lawyer represents defendant, prosecution presents evidence. Verdict and sentence set by the judge. This is the highest tier of RP on the server — take it seriously.
🔨
As a Judge
The role:
Judges are senior whitelist roles assigned by admins. The judge presides over formal court cases at the North East Crown Court. You have authority over sentencing within court proceedings.
Court proceedings:
When a court case is scheduled (via MDT), both sides gather — prosecution (police), defence (lawyer), defendant, and witnesses. The judge controls the session: calls order, hears evidence, directs questioning, and delivers verdict.
Sentencing power:
As judge you can increase or decrease sentences compared to standard charges based on the quality of evidence and arguments presented. A well-defended client with solid evidence can walk away lighter. A repeat offender with a full record and poor defence will feel it.
Commands:
/courtorder — issue a formal court order | /adjourn — pause proceedings | /verdict [id] [guilty/not guilty] — deliver verdict and trigger sentencing.
📰
As a Reporter (NERP News)
The role:
Reporters work for NERP News — Grade 0 Reporter (£140/cheque), Grade 2 Editor (£270/cheque). You are a civilian journalist. Your job is to document events happening across the city — crime scenes, court cases, major incidents, community events.
At crime scenes:
Police cannot stop reporters from filming in public areas. Stay behind police tape, don't interfere with scenes. You can interview officers, witnesses and bystanders. Your reports add depth to the server's narrative.
Filming:
Use /me and /do commands to describe your camera actions and the scene. Capture footage using in-game recording if you want to share clips on Discord.
Court access:
Reporters are permitted in public court galleries. Cover high-profile cases, report verdicts, interview defendants and victims after proceedings. The court system creates fantastic ongoing storylines to follow.
📷 Speed Cameras — Driver & Police
🚗
As a Driver
Speed zones:
30mph in residential streets. 40mph on A-roads and dual carriageways. 70mph on motorways. Speed cameras are fixed and hidden across the map.
Getting caught:
Camera fires → fine instantly deducted from your bank (then cash if insufficient) → you receive a notification with your speed and fine amount. No warning, no appeal — just the fine.
Fine rates:
30mph zone: £100 base + £6 per mph over. 40mph zone: £80 base + £5 per mph over. 70mph motorway: £50 base + £3 per mph over. Doing 50 in a 30 = £220 fine.
📡
As a Police Officer
ANPR notifications:
Every speed camera hit sends an ANPR-style notification to all on-duty police — player name, vehicle plate, speed recorded, zone speed limit and fine amount.
Response:
You can choose to pursue or let the auto-fine stand. If you pursue, run /checkplate when you stop them — repeat offenders with long records are worth detaining. High speeds (50+ over) warrant a stop and additional dangerous driving charge.
Additional charges:
Camera fine is automatic but you can add /charges for dangerous driving on top (£800 + 10 min jail) if the speed was extreme enough to warrant it in RP.
